1.8

I've spent a few days (okay, almost a week) here in Kainuu, eastern Finland... But today we'll go back to Oulu and on Wednesday we'll go to Helsinki! So much to do, so little time :s

Glad news

I got an e-mail from HOAS yesterday, they informed me about my apartment in Helsinki! I'll get a 12m2 room from 1/8/2012, and share a house with two mates. The size of the whole house is 65m2, with 3 bedrooms, kitchen and a washing room. Not bad at all, especially because the rent is really low :)
And another news, today is the exam day at the summer high school.. After doing the exams, I'll take a bus+train to Helsinki and another train to Oulu where I'll spend the weekend.

Have a nice weekend everybody!!♥

Sokos Hotel Helsinki

The room

Bathroom

 TV

Hungry? McDonald's is under your window ;)

I really liked staying there. The only negative thing was that it was too cold in the room- the air condition was too good (I got an annoying cough because of it..) But my overall rating is still closer to 9/10 than 8/10! The price for a night was just a bit over 100€, which isn't that much because the hotel is in central Helsinki (to the ones who are familiar with Helsinki, the hotel is just next to the Kluuvi shopping centre) and the rooms are nice and spacious :)

A rainy day in Helsinki

I left Oulu around the midnight and arrived to helsinki before 9 in the morning. The train wasn't full so I got two seats and slept almost the whole journey. When I arrived in Helsinki, it was raining like crazy so I ran to Sokos to buy an umbrella. Too bad it stopped raining just after that...
After walking around at Sokos, I wanted to visit the Kluuvi shopping centre. I couldn't remember the exact location of the shopping centre, so I just started walking :D

... And walking

And found the right place about 20 min later! I wanted to visit the shops IVANAhelsinki and Minna Parikka, but I couldn't find the former and the latter had no nice shoes at all... So I bought nothing :s
After that I headed to the shopping centres Forum and Kamppi which are pretty close to each other, but I bought just one item- a bag from Mango.
It was around 3pm then, so I decided to go to the shopping mall Itäkeskus by metro. I didn't find a lot to buy there either, just a skirt from Mango (did I already mention that I love Mango???)
My main purpose was to find shoes, but I didn't succeed in that. I didn't see many nice shoes around even if I visited a lot of shops, and the shoes I tried weren't good. It happened very often that I tried a size 37 at first, and it was too big so I tried 36 which was too small... Or the shop didn't even have size 36 so I couldn't even try it on :s

The sun shined for a while when I went back to central Helsinki. But the wind was really cold!! For a while I thought of just sitting at a cafe before the train would depart (it was around 5pm, and the train would depart at 6:30pm), but I came into another thoughts and went to look for the shop Zara even if I had no idea where it would be... I just looked for people carrying Zara bags and eventually found the shop. I tried on some party dresses and finally got one for about 50€, not bad at all... I'll introduce it later with some pictures:)

If you look closely, you can see the shop Zara in this picture. Stockmann is on the right side, I visited that as well to see the Finnish design section. I was looking for a particular Marimekko skirt, but I couldn't find it. Luckily, when I got back home, I got a voucher to the Marimekko stores in Oulu! 15% off, not bad at all!!!:)

Hopefully you all had as nice weekend as I had, or even nicer if it's possible ;)

Coming back from Helsinki

My feet are dead :D I walked around Helsinki from 9am to 6pm... I didn't visit any sights though, because my goal was to find new high heels. I didn't succeed on that, because all the nice shoes that were the right size were sold out already :( I bought some other stuff though, more about that later!! I also took some pics with my camera, I'll probably upload them tomorrow. They're not special though... It was raining and cold most of the time so :s
Have a nice weekend everybody!!

Turisteilemassa

Sorry for bad pics... Taken on my cellphone as usual. Like I've told here already, I was in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, on Tuesday.

It was such a quick visit in order to complete an entrance exam and participate in an interview held by the school I'm applying for. I didn't have time to take photos on my camera because I was on a hurry almost all the time. Luckily I got to see almost all the important sights of Helsinki on my way to the school and back to the airport :)

The other pics are just random, but that bird stuff is something that I bought at the airport. You know, the world championships of ice hockey are being held in Helsinki and Stockholm right now, and I love ice hockey so of course I wanted a souvenir of some kind!! The shop sold some basic stuff like caps and scarves in blue&white but when I saw a hoodie with the Hockeybird in it, I knew I had to buy it...
